Salvador’s Blog: Student Snapshots!

Good evening, Renegades!

I hope you have all had a great first-month of school, as we now conclude WEEK SEVEN! Wow, it’s  hard to believe time has gone by so quickly.

I had the chance to talk to a few students about their personal first month experiences, here’s what they had to say:

Belen

Belen Martinez

This is Belen’s first semester at Bakersfield College— she was previously attending Taft College. Belen decided to give us a try after growing a little tired of the long commute. So far, she really enjoys it!

“I was originally intimidated by how big the campus was [in comparison to] Taft College. But my professors have been really awesome. Plus, there’s a lot more opportunities here like Certificates”

Belen hopes to transfer to CSU East Bay or CSU Monterey Bay by next Fall, and wants to be a Graphic Designer. Great plan, Belen!

Elly

Elizabeth Espinoza

Elizabeth actually graduated with her A.A. in Liberal Studies last May. However, she’s back this semester taking classes to complete two more A.A. degrees— in Spanish and Communication.  She plans on being a Spanish Interpreter after, while working on her Bachelor’s. Talk about dedicated!

Kyle Kern

Kyle is a Computer Science major and a part-time after school teacher. He loves the value of attending Bakersfield College. “I was able to save a lot of money by doing my Gen Ed here,”

Kyle plans on transferring to UC Santa Cruz or Fresno State next semester. Good luck Kyle!

Thank you for reading, Renegades, and I hope you’ve all had a great weekend! See you soon.
